Head Chef at Harvey’s Point Hotel
Chris Mc Menamin went to St Francis National School and afterwards to The Abbey Vocational School, Donegal Town. His passion for hotels and cooking began during this time, when he worked as a general assistant in the Harvey’s Point Kitchens. His work was mostly in the Wash-Up but his heart lay across the corridor in the main hotel Kitchen . Thus began his love of Cookery and every chance he got he was begging to help in any aspect of food preparation.
This love saw him enrol in The Tourism, College Killybegs where he did a professional Cookery Course for 2 years. He graduated in 2005 with Honours with the passion for food and cookery burning as brightly as ever. In fulltime employment at this stage in Harvey’s Point, Chris worked under many of the best Chefs in Ireland. Frank Pasque , Martin Lynch, Paul Montgomery, and indeed Marc Gysling , the Proprietor, helped Chris hone his craft . Promotion followed and as Sous-Chef Chris decided to spread his wings and get some experience outside Harvey’s Point, especially in the area of kitchen and staff management.
He joined Pearls Place in Donegal town, a new and innovative Restaurant at that time, and was headhunted to become Head Chef at The Bayview Hotel, Killybegs . His love of Harvey’s Point still shone and when the opportunity arose he returned to Harvey’s Point as Head Chef in 2014. At Harvey’s Point, with its many outlets and different Kitchens, Chris has proved himself as passionate today as he was all those years ago when he cooked his first fillet steak at the tender age of 14. Chris is highly regarded by his industry peers , and his team at Harvey’s Point have the deepest respect for him as a Boss.
His ethos and philosophy is ‘One Dream One Team ‘.
