All Ireland Seafood Chowder Champion 2015 & 2016

From a very young age I had a very strong interest should I say “a passion for food”.
I worked locally in hotels and restaurants where I had some great experiences in good restaurants.

Nancy’s Barn started in 2010. I purchased it as a private dwelling – as a kid when I would drive past I always wanted to own that building!

We are blessed with the number of local fresh suppliers passing our doorstep every day at Nancy’s Barn. It’s local all the way with us! I take great advantage of fresh seafood, fresh vegetables, and fresh butchery.

I see food as more of an art; I really enjoy presentation and creating new ideas. No day is the same day in Nancy’s Barn, everyday is different, different dishes, different recipes!

Seafood Chowder Champion

In 2015 & 2016 Chef Kieran and his dedicated team won Seafood Chowder of the Year in Ireland during a competition which took place in Kinsale, Co. Cork, Due to the continued success of their tasty seafood dish the team will be representing Ireland in the 36th Annual Great Chowder Cook Off World Seafood Championships in Newport Rhode Island in June 2017. The legendary Great Chowder Cook-Off is the original and longest running event of its kind in the nation, and officially kicks off Rhode Island’s summer festivities!

Aside from the international recognition of their dish many visitors come to Nancy’s Barn to sample their Seafood Chowder and to date the dish remains a favourite with many locals.

The first stage of the competition is a regional heat, which takes place in Killybegs, as part of the Hooked! Hosted by ‘The Food Coast – Donegal’s Good Food Initiative,’ the regional heat will see local chefs to go head-to-head in a bid to be crowned the regional winner.

“I’m thrilled to be the current All-Ireland Chowder Champion and would recommend this competition to anyone. The regional heats are great fun and it’s a wonderful way to share Donegal’s food story with a wider audience.
